Today we had the long cotoneaster hedge trimmed.

A 25m cotoneaster hedge runs across the bottom of the garden in front of the property, providing privacy and shelter.  Over 50 years old, it had become very overgrown so it was time to give it a trim. So, that's we did today.  Now it looks a lot tidier and boxier.

The gap you see next to the four apple trees was where the hedge used to continue.. However, the 'miniature plants' put in over 50 years ago in the adjoining rockery took over everything!  So everything has been chopped down and over the next few weeks we will be starting to plant a fast-growing Hornbeam hedge, that will fully enclose the grounds again.
